July 3rd: Sydney
Stadium Australia at Olympic Boulevard We went to see the Olympic site. Several tour companies take you out there for $70-$80 per person for half a day. We found that rather expensive, so we used public transport instead. The site is already crowded with people, but not close to the capacity it has been build to manage and which probably will be reached in 2 months time.

Excited TV commentator There is a bus running around the site costing $10 for adults and $5 for students. However, you have to have an Australian student card to get the discount, which we found rather strange and not quite in the Olympic spirit. The bus driver explained that Australian student cards are not accepted outside Australia and hence no foreign student cards are accepted in Australia. We thought that this was a really ridiculous argument, as we had not expected anybody to accept the Danish student card and therefore had acquired an ISIC card (International Student Identity Card)!

Superdome at Olympic Boulevard Well, we decided to boycott the bus service and walk around instead. The bus is not really necessary as the place is not THAT huge and you can easily walk between the interesting places. The tour of Stadium Australia was very interesting (and expensive - fortunately and for whatever reason the ISIC card was accepted here). We were taken around in the dressing rooms, the media room and the platinum member's room. After the Olympics and Para-Olympics the stadium will be rebuilt to be used for cricket and football etc. The two long sides will be movable to extend the size of the field for the different purposes.
