July 1st: Sydney
Syndey Harbour Bridge at sunset
Sight-seeing day. Our first scenic view was from the Sydney Tower. So, although not in a plane, our first real view of greater Sydney was from the air (more or less) :-). Unfortunately, the sky was overcast and the whole picture was a bit grayish. It must be a spectacular view in sunshine. Before leaving we checked the prices of the restaurant at the top of the tower, but agreed on finding a cheaper place. The cheapest dish was vegetarian and $32.50 - not quite a backpacker's taste. :-)

Included in the rather chunky price was a multi media introduction to Australia, called Skytour. The guides were really enthusiastic and smiled *ALL* the time, they were a lot more excited about their tour than we were - anyhow, the tour was good.

Opera House and Harbour Bridge Although we had enjoyed an opera in the Sydney Opera House, we still wanted to get a guided tour of this magnificent building. Especially as Danish citizens, it was important to us to hear about the great Danish architect, Jørn Utzon, who designed the opera house. The tour can definitely be recommended!

Opera House and City From the Opera House you get a great view of the Harbour Bridge. Combined with an astonishing sunset it's just perfect! You can do the catwalk over the bridge, but it will cost you a 130 bucks! We chose the cheaper option and used the sidewalk.

Opera House We met Ernie and John for dinner at the Australian Hotel. The menu was pizzas, but not ordinary style - crocodile, kangaroo, emu, and scallops were some of the toppings. Try it - it's really good.
