August 9th: Carnarvon to Coral Bay
Salt This day had, after a lot of discussion, been sat aside for a tour of Lake Macleod. The tour did not start until 9:30 am, so we had plenty of time to pack our stuff back into the plane, refuel and lodge a flight plan, such that we would be ready for take off for the one hour flight up to Coral Bay immediately after the tour.

As everybody else going on the tour was living in caravan parks on the outskirts of Cape Cuvier Carnarvon we were the first to be picked up by Harry and thus got the best seats ;-).

The major part of the tour was on the Lake Macleod salt and gypsum mines. It was impressive to see the huge mounds of salt looking like icebergs. That's one thing I have really never thought of; How is the most important food ingredient made? I wouldn't have thought a second that it was that complicated...

Shifting sand dune Before returning back to Carnarvon we had lunch and went to see the blowholes. The wind was quite strong so they were not that impressive (Klaus and I had seen them in their pride last year).

At 4:30 pm we were airborne again and set Grummy up for a northbound track towards to Coral Bay. Jim, one of the six owners of the Ningaloo Reef Resort, landed shortly before us in Coral Bay and waited for us to give us a lift into town.
